Africa Energy Innovation Competition challenges early-stage energy start-ups across Africa who develop practical and sustainable energy products/services from local resources for the good of the society.
The evaluation criteria had a checklist of points to be met which included, utilization of local resources to impact large numbers of people, households and/or businesses. Originality and creativity, commercially viable, applicable, practical and cost-efficient and clear as well.
Our model which involves use of would be waste such as agro-waste, municipal bio-degradable waste collected from farms and cities respectively. Turned into sustainable cooking energy for households, businesses and institutions. This not only saves the environment through reduced cutting down of trees for charcoal as cooking energy but also is a source of income to garbage collectors and farmers. It also ensures proper sanitation in cities and homesteads.
Our founder Kakembo Galabuzi Brian on behalf of WEYE Clean Energy collected the First Winners Prize of 1,000,000 Naira from Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria. We drive our appreciation to the Nigerian Energy Forum Team for believing our vision for clean energy for all.
